DR. MARK ABLOWITZ

WWW: Waves, Water and the Web!

Abstract:   Mark Ablowitz received his Ph.D. (Mathematics) from MIT in 1971. He served as Assistant-Associate-Professor of Mathematics at Clarkson University from 1971-1979, where he also served as Chairman (1979-1985) and Dean of Science (1985-1989). He moved to the University of Colorado at Boulder as Director of the Applied Mathematics Program which he transformed into the Department of Applied Mathematics and served as Chairman till 2000. He has received numerous honors and awards, including Sloan and Guggenheim Fellowships. Dr. Ablowitz has authored 4 books and over 160 journal papers. He is a member of the Editorial Boards of Studies in Applied Mathematics and the Proceedings of the AMS.
