Teaching Assistant in High School Graduate student and upper level undergrads needed to work on a Math science education grant.  Must be comfortable teaching math and science to high school strudents. 15-20 hours a week. Grad students- regular grads students rates depending on MS, PhD., Ph.C, Undergrads $10/hr.  12 positions available. Job Description 1)      Attend 10 Saturday workshops with Dr. Larry Chew to learn how to develop inquiry science activities that integrate math and technology. 2)      Go to school 1 day a week to help in the classroom and then meet with the (Teacher Leader Cadre) TLC team 3 hours after school for a total of 5-9 hour day. 3)      Work with TLC to develop an inquiry activity that can be used in the classroom. Co teach with your TLCs that specific activity the following week. 4)      Join a meeting with the TLCs though video conferencing an additional 4.5 hours a week to help them develop activities for their teachers. 5)      Attend a 1 week follow up workshop summer 2008. 6)      Help edit activities and put it in consistent format 7)      Help put activities on CD 8)      Help create Video 9)      Help in misc aspect of the grant 10)  The program runs for Fall 2007 and Spring 2008. 11)  It is mentioned that the assistant will go to school 1 day a week. It is up to you and the 3-5 teachers you will be mentoring to decide on the day. Basically you are to be the science and math helper/coach resource to these teachers. If there is a schedule conflict, you try your best to work out a compromise. 12)  All the teachers will be high school teachers only and will be some math and some science teachers. We don’t know yet what specific topics (algebra, chemistry…) In addition, you will prepare inquiry based labs that you will teach along with the teachers when you are at the school.
