ATTENDANCE POLICY
Attendance is necessary in this class. Attendance will be taken at the beginning of every class. If you have to miss a class for a valid reason, please inform the instructor.

HOMEWORK
Homework will be assigned in the class. You are expected to solve the problems and get your difficulties clarified in the class or during the office hour or in the Mathematics Laboratory.

TESTS
There will be four tests and a comprehensive Final examination. Short Quizzes will be given on Friday, towards the end of the class period. The material to be covered in each quiz will be mentioned in the class. The dates of the the first two tests areTest 1: Wednesday, September 12, 2001Test 2: Friday, October 5, 2001The dates of the other two tests and the Final Examination will be announced in the class.

GRADING POLICY
The quizzes will count 100 points. The lowest one will be dropped.The Four Tests will count 400 points.The Final Examnination will count 100 points.No makeup test are planned. If you miss a test for a valid reason (to be determined by the instructor), the score obtained in the Final examination will be used to assign a score for the missed test. Please inform the instructor as soon as possible about a test that you could not appear.

80 - 89% B
70 - 79% C
0 - 69% F

NC POLICY
If your grade average is less than 70%, you might be eligible to receive an NC grade in stead of an F. You may receive an NC if you meet the following criteria: regular attendance, taking most of the quizzes, all tests and the Final examination; and an overall average of at least 50%.

Math. Cad. will be used in the class to see how technology can be used in problem solving. Please spend time to learn the commands to gain proficiency with the software. Math. Cad. is available in Math. Lab. and other computer labs. Please make sure that you spend time to learn its use. Please bring a diskette to the class to save your computer work.
