ATTENDANCE POLICY
Attendance will be taken. For those students with a borderline final grade, six or fewer absences could result in bonus points.

TESTS
There will be five tests worth 80 points each. The dates for the tests are September 10 and 26, October 14 and 25, and November 8. There will be eight quizzes on the homework problems worth 10 points each. The dates for the quizzes are August 26, September 3, 16 and 23, October 7 and 21, November 4 and 18. There will be a final examination, worth 160 points, given as scheduled by the University at the end of the semester. Parts of the tests and final examination may be take-home. All points are weighted equally toward your final percentage score.

NC POLICY
To be eligible for the NC grade, you must:
a) regularly and frequently attend and participate in class (present but asleep does not count) with no more than six absences;
b) take all quizzes, tests and the final examination according to University policy;
c) attain an average for the course of at least 50%.

IMPORTANT DATES
The Add/Drop period is August 19-23, 2002.
The last day for withdrawal is October 11, 2002.
University holidays are September 2, November 11, 28 and 29, 2002.
Finals week is Secember 3-9, 2002.

Calculator: You may use a graphing calculator and/or a Computer Algebra System for some of the work in class and for homework but DO NOT EXPECT TO BE ALLOWED EITHER ON QUIZZES, TESTS OR THE FINAL EXAMINATION when you will be allowed to use a scientific calculator. Please note that ON ALL QUIZZES, TESTS AND EXAMINATIONS, WORK MUST BE SHOWN FOR CREDIT TO BE AWARDED.
