ATTENDANCE POLICY Attendance will be taken regularly.
HOMEWORK Homework will be assigned for each section in the text that is covered. Periodically, I will collect some of these problems to grade.
TESTS Tests will, roughly, occur at the conclusion of each chapter and will cover material discussed since the previous test. Makeups will be given only when the absence occurs due to religious observances, medical reasons, family emergencies, or official Unversity functions and when accompanied by appropriate documentation.
GRADING POLICY Five chapter tests will be given. After the lowest grade is dropped, the remaining tests will count for 60% of the course grade. A mandatory comprehensive Final Exam will be 25% of the course average. The remaining 15% will be based on collected homework, quizzes, and 1 or 2 projects.
GRADING SCALE |
| Average | Grade | | 90 - 100%
| A | | 80 - 89%
| B | | 70 - 79%
| C | | 0 - 69%
| F | |
NC POLICY If you attend 80% or more of the lectures, take all tests, and have a final average of at least 50%, then No Credit (NC grade) will be awarded in place of an F.
IMPORTANT DATES Add/Drop: Aug 19-23; Withdrawal deadline: Oct 11; Final Exam: Dec 9, 1600-1850.
OTHER INFORMATION All students are required to have a scientific calculator. While graphing and programmable calculators are allowed for homework and quizzes (unless otherwise announced), these will not be allowed for tests. Using calculators of these types on a test will result in an automatic grade of ZERO (which will not be dropped)! Any student caught cheating on an exam will receive a grade of ZERO (which will not be dropped)!Disclaimer: Changes to this syllabus may be made at any time by announcement of the instructor.
