ATTENDANCE POLICY
Attendance is an important part of the learning process. Students are expected to attend each lecture; attendance records may be kept. Evidence of excessive absences may be used in the assignment of course grades. Common courtesy requires that students come to class on time, and stay the entire class period. Cellphones should be turned off. Please treat your classmates and instructor with respect and courtesy.

GRADING POLICY
There will be periodic announced short quizzes given at the beginning of class, four in-class tests, and a comprehensive final exam. Homework will be assigned, but will not be collected or graded. The four midterm exams will occur after each of Chapters 7, 8, 11 and 12. Tentative dates for these exams are September 15, October 10, October 31 and December 2 . These dates are subject to change, and any changes will be announced in class. The final exam is scheduled for Wednesday, December 10, 10:00am-1:00pm in the usual classroom.

OTHER INFORMATION
By University policy, students may make up missed quizzes, tests, and exams in the case of illness, family emergency, religious holidays, or official university activity. In order to have a make-up, students must present the instructor with written documentation of the absence. Such documentation must be submitted within two lecture periods after the absence. If the absence falls under one of the categories above, a make-up will be given on Tuesday, December 9 at 10am. Alternatively, in the case of approved absences only, a student, in consultation with the instructor, may elect to have that score replaced by the final exam score. For unapproved absences, a score of zero will be entered in the gradebook. Students who miss more than one exam will be dealt with on a case by case basis.

Each student MUST take the final exam. Students who do not take the final exam will receive an F for the course.
