There will be periodic quizzes throughout the semester, homework assignments, and a comprehensive final exam. The following is a break down of the grade distribution. Grade Scheme:4 Tests @ 17% each GRADING SCALE Average Grade 90 - 100% A 80 - 89% B 70 - 79% C 0 - 69% F NC POLICY If you attend 80% or more of the lectures, take all tests, and have a final average of at least 50% then No Credit (NC grade) will be awarded in place of an F. It is extremely important to work as many problems as possible. This assignment sheet represents only a minimum. Students may be asked to submit problems to be graded; ample notice will be given for turning in assignments. Quizzes will be given semi-frequently. Each quiz will be composed of 1 or 2 problems taken directly from the assignments. Graphing CalculatorsGraphing calculators can be an extremely valuable resource in mathematics. I strongly encourage the use of graphing calculators to aid in the learning process. Calculators are not allowed during tests (neither graphing nor otherwise). I am proficient with the entire TI line of graphing calculators, and will be happy to assist with any questions regarding the functionality and use of the calculator. Some of the assigned problems suggest the use of a graphing utility (either a calculator or software package). Graphing utilities may be found on the Math Lab computers.The Math LabThe Math Lab is a tutoring and learning facility for mathematics students. The primary function of the math lab is to provide free quality tutoring for all UCF mathematics students. The lab also has many computers loaded with various mathematics software packages (MathCAD, Axum, EXP, Maple, etc.) It is a great place for studying and doing homework. The Math Lab is located in MAP 113 (on the first floor). Hours of operation are posted on the lab door.
