TENTATIVE LIST OF TOPICS 1) Introduction to Hilbert spaces, orthonormal basis and frames, 2) Review of Fourier series and integrals,3) Time-frequency analysis and the Gabor Transform, 4) The continuous wavelet transform and its inversion formula, 5) The discrete wavelet transform (wavelet series),6) Multiresolution analyses and orthonormal wavelet bases,7) Shannon, Meyer, and Daubechies wavelets,8) Biorthogonal wavelets.

OTHER INFORMATION At the end of the semester each student will be requested to present a research article on wavelets from the student's major discipline. The project is worth 100 points.
