ATTENDANCE POLICY
Students are EXPECTED TO ATTEND ALL LECTURES. Attendance will be taken daily. Attendance in class is crucial to your understanding of the course. Absences for participation in university activities must be approved by the instructor in advance. For those students with borderline grades, three or fewer absences could result in bonus points.

HOMEWORK
Assigned homework will not be collected but students are expected to work all problems. Some of the homework problems will be discussed in class and further discussion is encoraged during office hours. Many test problems will be based on the assigned homework and on problems and examples worked in class.

TESTS
There will be 4 exams during the semester and an optional final exam. The date of each exam will be announced in class at least one week in advance. If you are satisfied at the end of the semester with your grade based on the 4 exams during the semester, it is not necessary to take the final exam. There will be no make-up exams during the semester. The final exam is comprehensive and will be used as a make-up exam. It can also be used to replace your lowest grade on one of the 4 exams during the semester.

GRADING POLICY
Each of the four exams is 25%.
