Caron ATTENDANCE POLICY It is strongly recommended that you attend all lectures, discussion sections, and exams. Excused absences (death in the family, medical, court appearances, official UCF functions etc.) for exams and quizzes must be supported in writing and be approved by your discussion leader no later than seven days after the absence. HOMEWORK You should complete the questions at the end of each lesson prior to your discussion class, as they will improve your success on the quizzes. TESTS There will be four midterm exams worth 100 points each, and a comprehensive final exam worth 100 points. When you finish an exam you should submit your scantron (which will not be provided, so be sure to bring your own) and keep your test paper. The solutions to all the exams can be obtained from your instructor. The use of graphing calculators is not permitted, nor is the use of cell-phone calculators. Anyone who is more than 15 minutes late for an exam will automatically receive a score of zero. GRADING POLICY The course grade is determined by taking the top three scores from the four midterm exams, plus the final exam and the quizzes. GRADING SCALE Average Grade 90 - 100% A 80 - 89% B 70 - 79% C 60 - 69% D 0 - 59% F IMPORTANT DATES Midterm Exam #1 - 9/6/02 Midterm Exam #2 - 9/25/02 Midterm Exam #3 - 10/14/02 Midterm Exam #4 - 11/1/02 Midterm Exam #5 - 11/21/02 Final Exam - 12/4/02 OTHER INFORMATION In addition to your discussion groups and the office hours of the discussion group leaders, the Math Lab is available free of charge to all students enrolled in the course. The Math Lab is located in MAP 113, and is open Monday to Thursday from 9am to 8pm, on Friday from 9am to 4pm, and on Sunday from 2pm to 6pm.
